EPIC Material Handling ramps up engineers'
efficiency thanks to pro-Forms®

 

St Helens based materials handling expert rolls out ENTERPRISE MANAGER Plan




A new approach to managing field based engineers' jobs

After a successful period of replacing paper-based job forms with the pro-Forms® mobile forms solution, the company decided to take the next step and manage their workload fully online with our job planning, management and dispatch solution.

What were the objectives?

Running a team of forklift engineers spread over the North West of the country visiting Customer's sites for a mix of planned servicing, reactive repairs and required LOLER compliance checks required significant flexibility, planning and admin support. Realising that this would eventually restrict company growth, the Directors decided to upgrade to our ENTERPRISE MANAGER Plan before they reached that point.

Upgrading to this new Plan not only gave EPIC access to our Job Management features but also the option to log all Customer equipment, trucks and machinery in our Asset Managment tools providing a fully integrated solution for managing all aspects of the company's work.

The key objectives were :-

  • eliminate phone calls to engineers to simply give them job information
  • improve efficiency when planning and managing jobs each day
  • build & maintain detailed knowledge of Customer trucks and work carried out
  • track the progress and completion of jobs throughout the working day
  • pre-fill engineer job sheets with key information e.g. truck make, model, serial number to save time & improve accuracy
  • return completed job information for quicker parts ordering & job invoicing


The outcomes

After conducting office staff training using MS Teams, jobs were being raised and issued to engineer's mobile devices within the hour meaning an instant reduction in phone calls and efficiency improvement in the whole job raising process.

Other additional benefits from the upgrade include -

- daily/ weekly vehicle checks conducted within the pro-Forms® app before jobs can be accessed.

- early warning of jobs overrunning/ in danger of not being attended.

- easier co-ordination with Customers when offering appointment dates thanks to the visual job planner.

- access to instant job reports including jobs raised by type, jobs completed by type and reasons for cancelled jobs.

- improved health & safety through being able to see mapped engineers' locations (not simply their vehicles!)
